NYC on the street: Pearl River

I was walking in Soho Wednesday in between appointments and had some time to kill during my lunch hour. I've always read that Pearl River Mart is a bevy of kitsch and is the decorating go-to for Domino's  Deal Hunter, Nick Olsen.

Pearl River Mart occupies two floors in a storefront on Broadway, just north of Canal St. It is an assault to the senses in every visual way. There's clothing, food, furnishings, decor, candy, tea-you name it, it's in here. The fabrics on the first floor caught my eye, as seen above. They sell your traditional silks that are used for those touristy kimonos, etc, but a bin of florals caught my eye. DEFINITELY workable for pillows, upholstery and $22 a yard.

Their dinnerware section is impressive. There's more teapots, teacups, and plates in so many different motifs....I was dying when I saw these.

Also, there's a big selection of bamboo shades in the basement with prices that would slap Home Depot in the mouth. This could be a great go-to for shades if anything else. Never expected that.

So there you have it; my lunch break in Soho. Has anyone stopped in here? It's so cool...
